From the Kids to the Real Kids to Mr. Curt solo on Euphoria Records, the Mr. Curt catalog of music is a long and important, historic part of the New England Rock and Roll Story. His bands Pastiche and The Exis made their mark from the 1970s to the 1990s if my memory serves and somehow a couple more decades developed to the year 2021, a half a century, and welcome to his newest CD, Kernels for the Birds.Dave Godbey from Fox Pass co-writes the first minute and two seconds entitled “In a Haze.” It’s the intro to a collection of Space Age Bachelor Pad music meets the avant-garde side of the New Wave, Track two is about breeding heroes and includes a hypnotic mantra if you will, “Ripped,Wrecked and Excited” would raise the eyebrows of Roxy Music’s Eno and Velvet Underground’s John Cale.

Medford’s Center for Citizenship and Social Responsibility Receives $350,000 Grant from Cummings Foundation

MEDFORD – Medford’s Center for Citizenship and Social Responsibility (CCSR) has been awarded a 10-year, $350,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation as part of their $25 Million Grant Program, the City of Medford and Medford Public Schools announced this week. The grant will support the mission of The CCSR, which includes developing student leaders who work to make the world a better place by creating projects that benefit both the Medford community and the world. The CCSR is a district-wide after school program, part of the Medford Public Schools, which guides students in development and implementation of projects that benefit the community.

EXPAND CONSERVATION LAND TAX CREDIT (H 4000)

House 160-0, approved an amendment that would expand the existing Conservation Land Tax Credit by raising the annual cap for this program from $2 million to $5 million over a three-year period, beginning on January 1, 2022. The increase would remain in place until December 31, 2031. This state tax credit provides an incentive for land with significant conservation value to be donated to public and private conservation agencies. The tax credit is equal to 50 percent of the fair market value of the donated property, up to a maximum credit of $75,000.

A LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE BUDGET “DEBATE”

Most of the decisions on which representatives’ amendments are included or not included in the budget are made “behind closed doors.” Or in the COVID-19 era, “behind closed Zoom meetings.” Of the 1,157 budget amendments proposed, most of them were bundled into consolidated “mega” amendments. This year there were seven mega amendments and all but one, which had just one vote against it, were approved unanimously. There is no real “debate” on the House floor. Everyone who spoke on any of the consolidated amendments spoke in favor of them.
